About Taras Omelianenko

His first project involved developing a statement generation system for a bank in Kremenchuk, Ukraine in 2006 while studying in college. He graduated with a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence Systems from NTU “KhPI” with the highest score.

He has over 10 years of teaching experience, beginning with student internships at one of Ukraine’s outsourcing companies, which grew from 500 to over 2,500 employees by the end of 2022. He developed and conducted his own PHP web development course.

Since 2009, as the DevOps movement emerged worldwide, Taras became interested in establishing more effective collaboration between developers and system administrators during his first major project in 2011-2012.

In his next project starting in 2013, Taras founded his own company and built a development team. He developed an API for a mobile application and designed an eCommerce platform for the Ukrainian market using the Symfony framework. He automated deployments using Jenkins and implemented Ansible for server configuration and platform updates with zero downtime. The system handled up to 5 updates per or more and without service interruption.

This experience marked his transition from PHP and JS development to implementing DevOps practices. Since 2018, Taras has focused exclusively on providing DevOps services and helping teams deliver changes to Production environments more efficiently.

In 2021, his focus shifted towards Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), leading him to explore new methods and approaches.

Currently, Taras teaches at Production Ready and is interested in topics related to SRE, Security, and Electronic device development.
